Internado Documentary
A short documentary film about the controversial addiction rehabilitation program, run by Dr. Martin Nizama, at the Noguchi Institute for Mental Health in Lima, Peru. Dr. Nizama's program generally requires that patients are locked in their homes, against their will, guarded by their own families. Patients are then subjected to a rigorous program of writing, reading, and drawing, that culminates in the completion of a 11,000 pages thesis on his or her life history. For context, that's longer than most editions of Don Quixote. The entire process can take over four years.
